As part of the London Festival of Architecture, 1-30 June 2015, John McAslan + Partners' Ximena Bianco gave an illustrated talk at the N17 Studio highlighting how the practice is contributing to life in Tottenham.
With Haringey Council, John McAslan + Partners has transformed an empty Tottenham shop into a design hub offering work placements and training for local people. The new space has created a design studio and a community information centre on the High Road, showcasing regeneration plans and engaging with local people about the future of Tottenham.
The Studio is a demonstration of John McAslan + Partners’ continuing belief that architecture can help change people’s lives and that architects have a direct social responsibility.
The N17 Design Studio opened its doors in January 2015. This talk by John McAslan + Partners’ Associate Ximena Bianco presented the highlights from this groundbreaking partnership with the Council. It reviewed the series of workshops that John McAslan + Partners have been holding with Northumberland Park Community School, as well as future community engagement plans.
The talk also explored ways in which architecture can make a difference in urban areas like Tottenham.
