Richard Green

Richard is a media professional with extensive knowledge of the travel industry. He spent 15 years on the travel desk of the Sunday Times newspaper in London, writing features, a travel advice column, and editing the travel briefs. He began his career by studying for a BA (Hons) degree in Transport and Business Studies, after which he worked for British Midland at East Midlands and Heathrow airports. He also worked with GB Airways at Gatwick, where he had positions in route planning and marketing, represented the airline at the AOC (Airline Operators Council) and designed and presented a cultural awareness course to all of the airline’s airport staff network-wide.

More recent roles have included: assisting Kaunas 2022 (winning city for European City of Culture 2022) providing media advice and editing its bid book submission to the EU in Brussels; Head of Development for film makers This is Insomnia; and Head of Marketing and Communications for start up drone company Aerial Power.

Richard has visited more than 140 countries, flown on well over 100 airlines, and is acutely aware of the part played by quality hotel, attraction and transport architecture in fostering the best travel experiences. The question he's asked most is 'what is your favourite country?'  His answer is 'the next one'.
