Speirs + Major

Speirs + Major is an award-winning design practice that uses light to enhance the experience of the visual environment.  The practice is inspired by light and its innovative use, application and reinterpretation. Its work encompasses architecture, strategic branding and innovative product design. Speirs + Major works in close collaboration with architects and designers on projects using light to reveal and accentuate the core principles of the architectural design and as an integrated part of the final built form. The practice’s projects include Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Royal Festival Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral, the 02 Arena/Millennium Dome, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Beijing International Airport, Terminal Four, Barajas Airport, Madrid and Terminal Five, Heathrow Airport, London.

Speirs + Major have unveiled their lighting design for The Macallan new distillery and visitor experience on the Easter Elchies estate, Speyside, North East Scotland.The practice bring their extensive experience in illuminating a wide range of architectural settings to this project and have collaborated closely with the client, Edrington, to create an engaging atmospheric design that encapsulates the spirit of The Macallan.
