Sun Rain Rooms by Tonkin Liu has been selected by New London Architecture as the winner of their 2018 'Don't Move, Improve!' award. Chosen from a shortlist of 30 properties, Tonkin Liu's extension and restoration of a Grade-II listed Georgian townhouse was praised by the jury as an example of "how creative design can deliver truly innovative solutions that reinterpret the traditional garden."

Designed and constructed by Tonkin Liu in collaboration with local craftspeople, the space serves as both a studio for the practice and a home for the partners' family. It was completed in April 2017.

The 'Don’t Move, Improve! 'awards annually celebrate London’s best-designed new home extensions and improvements,  with the  competition promoting the value of good design to householders and the work of emerging architectural practices.
